The TORCH animates through fire, marking the beginning and end of the Fine Dying ceremony.
The act and sculpture invite us to celebrate the necessary death of our own phantoms and start defining the desired terms of our individual and collective experience as contemporary females. Each torch is crowned by a shell, pointing to Woolf´s story of the angel. Shells trap and kill invaders that enter her interior, by way of pearls.  In Virginia´s case, the invader is the angel.
“Had I not killed her she would have killed me”

The sculptures arrive from an interest in the ephemerality of rituals and questioning
how objects can help mark and represent these.

MISSCHIEFS is originally a groundbreaking feminist exhibition of contemporary collectible design showcasing a unique group of trailblazing Swedish womxn selected for the punk nature of their work, at the crossing of design, craft and art.
